How to stop worrying and Start living'というビジネス向け自己啓発本です。
Eight words that can transform your life'(貴方の人生を変身させる8語の言葉)と言う項目があります。
'Our life is what our thoughts make it'
'A man is what he thinks about all day long'(人はその人が一日中考えている事そのものになる’と言いました。
Dale Carnegie
Let's do as General Hisenhower does: Let's never waste a minute thinking about people we don't like.
I have been feeling as if I am not myself for a while. ( Yes, and I am still feeling this way), It is because of the new life in new country, pressure of new married life or pressure to get a new job, but at the same time, this strong feelings toward one person has changed me into someone I have ever known.
Due to an incident, I started having strong dislikes against this one person. I denied her looks, the way she act, things she said, I mean everything. As a result, I found ' peace' in myself by criticizing her so that I can know I am not like her. However, these things has invaded my heart little by little and instead feeling better about myself by criticizing this person, I started feeling inferior to her. I fell into a bad cycle of feeling inferior and criticizing her to make myself feel better. I was totally on the edge that I asked for a help to books and tried many things to take this negative feelings out of my heart. But, no matter what I read, I did not have a right mind to 'make things better'.
Oneday, as I choose a book for my bath time, a book came into my eyes. It is a self-improvement book called ' How to stop worrying and start living' by Dale Carnegie. He has written books about how a business man can be successful by having good relationships and positive minds by experiences of great people in a history and his own.
So, I randomly chose this book and started reading while being in a bathtub. And there was a chapter 12 ' Eight words that can transform your life'. which really opened my eyes.
Here is the eight words that can transform our life:
' Our life is what our thoughts make it'
whatever we think reflect in our life. Its very simple but isn't it an idea we can easily forget in our daily life?
American philosopher Emerson once said 'A man is what he thinks about all day long'. If its true, what would I, who think bad about a person all day long certainly be?The reason why I can not stop having negative feeling is (besides the incident itself) because I do not stop thinking about this person.
While I wanted to criticize this person, I hated myself for that at the same time. Not only I did not like myself for thinking in this way, I also found myself very ugly to even came up with this idea. ( ugly, that is what I was)
Mr Carnegie finished the chapter like this;
' Let's do as General Hisenhower does; Let's never waste a minute thinking bad about people we don't like.'
It's not ' Love your enemies'. ' If you can not, let's just forget' How simple is that? I felt my heart becoming lighter.
I am a person who can not separate things easily.
I become sad too often and emotional too quickly.
Still, I am trying not to forget having at least a little ' positive mind' everyday. When all my positive minds are gone, I will not hesitate to get help from people around me, so guys, thank you so much for you help in advance! ( I am always saying this in my inside…:) )
